A Father to the Fatherless
I can vividly remember the last time I saw my biological father, I was eight years old. It’s a painful experience to think back on, even now as I type, tears stain my keyboard as I picture that moment and that little girl.
I had no idea that in the coming years the “Father to the fatherless" (Psalm 68:5) would find me and that He would lavish on me His great and many affections, redeem me, and make me His daughter for all eternity.
Today, on this Father’s Day, if you find yourself reminded of the pain of a poor example of God’s beautiful design for fatherhood, flee to the loving everlasting arms of your Father in heaven (Deuteronomy 32:27). He will never disappoint you, never abandon you, never break His promises, and never not want you (Romans 5:5-8; Deuteronomy 7:9; Hebrews 13:5; Galatians 2:20). He delights in rescuing the lost and the broken (Luke 15:8-10). He sent His Son to the Cross to demonstrate His amazing love (Romans 8:32). May this Father’s day bring you greater joy than sorrow thinking on Your Perfect Father and Savior.
